On Aug. 30, the United States State Department Office of the Legal Adviser released its annual digest providing a record of the U.S. government’s activities in public and private international law. The 800-page report collates U.S. views and practices on a range of international legal issues from the past year, from its interactions with global frameworks such as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) to its unveiling of a new option to choose “gender non-binary” on U.S. passports to an overview of U.S. application of sanctions against state and non-state entities.
