Administrative Note

Particularly astute readers who have been carefully combing the site over the past five minutes may have noticed that our "search" bar has changed subtly and now includes check boxes that allow users to search either the Lawfare "site" or the "wiki." Those who have played with the search engine in that time will have noticed that searching the "wiki" returns no results---for the simple reason that Lawfare does not have a wiki . . . yet. The change, which is a ghost for now, is the leading edge of our next big project: A reader-built wiki document library of primary sources in the field of national security law. While we are still building the architecture and have only just started seeding the site with content, the technical side has progressed faster. So readers may see further signs over the coming weeks of our ghost wiki. I hope to announce relatively soon a public pilot project, so that readers can see what we're up to---and begin contributing. So stay tuned. But for now, just ignore the apparent new functionality on the search bar. Another thing: Our wiki job board is no longer a wiki. I built it as a wiki initially to test the software I was thinking of using for the document wiki. It quickly got spammed, however, and while that itself was informative in terms of the security needs of the coming wiki, protecting the document from further spamming makes it harder than is ideal to use as a job board. In addition, for silly technical reasons, continuing the job board as a wiki created complications for the larger wiki project. So I've made the job board a regular page, and folks who have jobs to announce can simply email them to Ritika or Raffaela to get them posted.
