We’re excited to announce the launch of the Lawfare Research Initiative, formalizing and expanding our long-form research across law, national security, foreign policy, and technology. Since its earliest days, Lawfare has published rigorous, in-depth research papers that explore these critical topics. We have done so several dozen times under a variety of paper series. We even once published a book. Just this week we published our latest paper.

Now we are taking the next step to enhance and broaden our role in delivering high-quality, policy-relevant longer-form analysis.

Many research institutions face challenges in reaching their intended audiences, Lawfare has spent a decade and a half developing one of the most impactful readerships in the field. This provides a unique advantage in our mission to ensure that our research informs and shapes critical discussions at all levels of government, academia, industry, and media.

Our initial expansion, generously supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, will focus on technology policy, and we look forward to covering Lawfare’s entire issue set, including international law, foreign policy, and democracy protection. The initiative will be led by Lawfare senior editor, Alan Rozenshtein, who will also serve as Lawfare’s research director. For questions, collaborations, or research proposals, please reach out to Alan.

Stay tuned as we embark on this new chapter to advance impactful, nonpartisan research that tackles some of the most pressing issues of our time.
