Document: Prosecutors Seek Pretrial Detention for Mariia Butina

The Department of Justice has filed a memorandum in support of pretrial detention ahead of Wednesday's detention hearing for Mariia Butina. Federal prosecutors unsealed a criminal complaint against Butina on July 16 and a federal grand jury returned an indictment against Butina on July 17.

The Department of Justice has filed a memorandum in support of pretrial detention ahead of Wednesday's detention hearing for Mariia Butina. Federal prosecutors unsealed a criminal complaint against Butina on July 16 and a federal grand jury returned an indictment against Butina on July 17. The government now seeks to deny Butina bail on the grounds of her "history of deceptive conduct" and the concern that she poses a serious flight risk. The full document is available below.
