Eric Adams Indictment Unsealed

On Sept. 25, New York City Mayor Eric Adams was indicted by a federal grand jury in the Southern District of New York. The indictment was unsealed by prosecutors on Sept. 26.

According to the indictment, Adams—for nearly a decade—”sought and accepted improper valuable benefits, such as luxury international travel, including from wealthy foreign business people and at least one Turkish government official seeking to gain influence over him.” The New York City mayor also allegedly “compounded his gains” from the illegal campaign contributions, using them to “defraud New York City and steal public funds” by exploiting the city’s Public Matching Funds Program. 

Adams is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, federal program bribery, and to receive campaign contributions by foreign nationals; one count of wire fraud; two counts of solicitation of a contribution by a foreign national; and one count of bribery.
