Laura Poitras Files FOIA Case Against U.S.
Laura Poitras, Citizenfour filmmaker and co-founder of The Intercept with Glenn Greenwald and Jeremy Scahill, has filed suit against the United States over what she terms "Kafkaesque harassment" on the basis of her interactions with Edward Snowden and Julian Assange.

Laura Poitras, Citizenfour filmmaker and co-founder of The Intercept with Glenn Greenwald and Jeremy Scahill, has filed suit against the United States over what she terms "Kafkaesque harassment" on the basis of her interactions with Edward Snowden and Julian Assange.
The complaint, filed yesterday in the D.C. District Court, is a Freedom of Information Act request for the release of government records on Poitras' "repeated subjection to secondary security screening and/or detention and questioning" during travel. It names the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence as defendants. The Intercept quotes Poitras as stating that, “I’m filing this lawsuit because the government uses the U.S. border to bypass the rule of law."
