On March 7 at 4 pm ET, Lawfare Executive Editor Natalie Orpett will sit down with Lawfare Senior Editors Anna Bower and Scott Anderson and associate professor of law at the University of Minnesota Law School Nicholas Bednar to discuss the status of the civil litigation against President Trump’s executive actions, including the firing of probationary employees, the dismantling of the CFPB, and foreign aid freeze.

Natalie Orpett is the executive editor of Lawfare and deputy general counsel of the Lawfare Institute. She was previously an attorney at the law firm Jenner & Block, where she focused on investigations and government controversies, and also maintained an active pro bono practice. She served as civilian counsel to a defendant in the Guantanamo Military Commissions for more than eight years.
Scott R. Anderson is a fellow in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution and a Senior Fellow in the National Security Law Program at Columbia Law School. He previously served as an Attorney-Adviser in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State and as the legal advisor for the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq.
Anna Bower is a senior editor at Lawfare. Anna holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Cambridge and a Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School. She joined Lawfare as a recipient of Harvard’s Sumner M. Redstone Fellowship in Public Service. Prior to law school, Anna worked as a judicial assistant for a Superior Court judge in the Northeastern Judicial Circuit of Georgia. She also previously worked as a Fulbright Fellow at Anadolu University in Eskişehir, Turkey. A native of Georgia, Anna is based in Atlanta and Washington, D.C.
Nicholas Bednar is an associate professor of law at the University of Minnesota Law School. He writes in the areas of executive politics, administrative law, and immigration. He holds a PhD in political science from Vanderbilt University and a JD from the University of Minnesota Law School.
