On July 18, Trump stated on Truth Social that he received a target letter from the Special Counsel on Sunday in the grand jury investigation into his actions for Jan. 6. The afternoon of July 18 is also when a hearing in Fort Piece in the classified documents case will occur. The Fort Pierce hearing will address Trump and Nauta’s request to postpone the government’s proposed trial date and how to handle the sharing of classified documents under the Classified Information Procedures Act.

How could another indictment by Special Counsel Jack Smith impact the classified documents case? What are the implications of Trump’s Truth Social post?

On Tuesday, July 18, at 5 p.m. ET, Lawfare Editor in Chief Benjamin Wittes, alongside Lawfare contributors Anna Bower and Roger Parloff, will host a Lawfare Live to unpack the Fort Pierce hearing and discuss developments in the Jan. 6 case. The Lawfare Live will occur at 5 p.m. barring any delaying factors.

Material supporters will receive a link to join a Zoom webinar and will be able to ask questions during the livestream. It will be livestreamed on YouTube for all other viewers. Find the livestream here.

If you can’t attend the live event, the recording will be available immediately afterward on Lawfare’s website and on Lawfare’s YouTube channel. Event audio will also be available the following morning on The Lawfare Podcast.
