I was delighted to participate the other day in the first of a new monthly series of Hoover Institution book soirees. This series involves cocktail-hour interviews with the authors of important new national security-oriented books at Hoover's beautiful Washington offices. Jack and I will be conducting the interviews, and the Lawfare Podcast will be carrying the discussion.

The first event, which took place Wednesday, featured my Brookings colleague Will McCants and Joby Warrick of the Washington Post, discussing their important new books on ISIS.

It's a great discussion with two authors who have thought deeply about different aspects of ISIS: its history, the ideas behind it, and the people who made it happen and watched it happen. For folks who couldn't make it to the event itself, check out the podcast.

I also strongly urge readers and listeners to join us in person for the next event, which will take place November 10 and will feature Jack interviewing the New York Times's Charlie Savage on his forthcoming book: Power Wars: Inside Obama's Post-9/11 Presidency.
