A Lawfare Welcome: Susan Hennessey

It is a great pleasure to announce Lawfare's new managing editor: Susan Hennessey.

If the name rings a bell and you're not either a spy or a former law school classmate, that's probably because Susan actually has a history with Lawfare. She was one of the site's early student contributors, back when she was at Harvard Law School. Indeed, she was one of the students who showed us just how much useful material we could produce with student writers.

More recently, Susan has been serving in the Office of General Counsel office at NSA, where she has handled legislative matters and worked on cybersecurity issues.

I was thrilled that she was willing to come out of government to succeed Wells Bennett both in helping run Lawfare and in doing national security legal policy work at Brookings, where Susan will be double-hatted as a fellow in national security law. It is a particular pleasure to welcome back to Lawfare someone who has already made a contribution to the site.

Years ago, when I joined the Washington Post editorial page, the late great Meg Greenfield told a friend of mine she had hired me to write editorials so that "he can annoy his elders." It is in that spirit that I commend Susan to the Lawfare readership. We're very lucky to have her.
