This is Lawfare's 1,000th post. It takes place during our 11th month of operation. During the blog's brief life, it has gone from non-existence to a site which has averaged more than 1,700 visits daily over the past 30 days and plays a significant role in the country's debate over law and security. It has developed a truly remarkable readership, a vibrant and growing list of contributors, a book review, and over the coming months, we will be adding new features as well.

We are all stunned and moved by the reception this project has received and look forward to its further growth and development. Speaking personally, the response to it has vindicated my long-held conviction that there is a latent hunger out there for more a less ideological and more serious--and more civilized--discussion of the "hard national security choices." This nice round number is as good an occasion as any to offer our thanks to everyone who has contributed to this site--by corresponding with its authors and giving us all ideas, by engaging and arguing with it, and most important, by reading it.
