The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol will hold its ninth and potentially final public hearing on Oct. 13 at 1:00 p.m. ET. Chairman Bennie Thompson has stated that the hearing’s format will differ from the previous series of hearings with each of the nine lawmakers on the panel being given the chance to speak. While committee members have not provided many details about the specifics of the upcoming hearing, it is anticipated that the committee will highlight new evidence illustrating former President Donald Trump’s central role in the events and causes of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol .

The hearing was originally scheduled for Sept. 28 but was rescheduled due to Hurricane Ian. One of the committee members, Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-Fla.), represents parts of Florida impacted by the hurricane.
