This event, which I just added to the Lawfare Events Calendar, looks interesting:

Cordially invite you to a brown bag lunch discussion with

Congressman Adam Smith (D-WA)

Discussing National Security, the Constitution, and the Executive Branch

“Current law gives the President of the United States the power to indefinitely lock up an individual apprehended in the U.S. without due process and with little independent review or oversight. This is a frightening amount of power to give the Executive branch, and it is unnecessary. Our civilian justice system has proven effective at investigating and prosecuting suspected terrorists, and stopping terrorist attacks in the U.S.  The President should have the flexibility necessary to bring suspected terrorists to justice, but not in a manner that sacrifices due process or the Constitutional protections afforded to individuals in the U.S.”
