For our D.C.-area readers, AU's student-run National Security Law Brief is hosting its annual symposium this Thursday here at the Washington College of Law. This year's event will focus on the current and future issues arising out of "material support" prosecutions, including the continuing implications of the Humanitarian Law Project decision with respect to free speech and humanitarian aid issues, the Hamdan question (i.e., whether material support is a war crime that can be tried by a military commission), and related topics...
David Cole from Georgetown will deliver the lunchtime keynote address, followed by a panel discussion featuring Jen Daskal (Georgetown), Dan Marcus (WCL), me, and a potential government speaker TBA. The flyer is here; more details are here.
