Back on November 17, the Medill National Security Journalism Initiative held an excellent forum on legal issues surrounding targeted killing. The panel consisted of me and Gary Solis, author of the recent book, The Law of Armed Conflict: International Humanitarian Law in War. It was moderated by Tara McKelvey, a fellow at Medill, and took place before a particularly well-informed audience of journalists and national security specialists. In contrast with my earlier debate with Mary Ellen O'Connell, this discussion was not contentious; Solis and I had found a great deal of common ground. Medill has now made video of the session available, which I embed here.
