National Security Law Moot Court Competition at GW

The co-chairs of the 2012 George Washington University Law School National Security Law Moot Court Competition would like to  encourage law students from around the country to register to compete in the 2012 National Security Law competition.  The GW NSL Moot Court Competition is the only nation-wide competition focusing on national security issues.  This year, the competition will take place the third weekend of February and feature distinguished panels of judges. Those judging the competition are highly experienced jurists with expertise in national security law and related areas. The competition’s final round, which has been covered by C-SPAN and other news organizations, is judged by high-profile national security law experts, such as: •           Federal appeals court and district court judges •           U.S.military courts of appeals judges •           A former Acting Attorney General of the United States •           Former Directors of the CIA and FBI •           A former Solicitor General of the United States Contestants are eligible for awards and prizes recognizing excellence in brief writing, oral advocacy, and overall team performance. The two teams arguing in the final round will be invited to join the final round judges and esteemed legal scholars in the field of national security law for a private reception at one of D.C.’s many notable restaurants. Interested teams are asked to register as soon as possible. The registration fee is $400 per team or $650 for two teams from the same law school. All registrations must be received by November 18, 2011, and only a limited number of spots are still available.
