Please Support Lawfare as We Rebuild the Site
Yesterday, we received a notification from the IRS that our 501(c)(3) tax exempt status has now been approved---making donations to Lawfare tax deductible. Today, we met with representatives of a tech company who are helping us plan and execute a major redesign of the Lawfare site. We need your help in making this happen.

Lawfare has outgrown its original blog format. We have different communities of readers who use the site for very different purposes. Folks who depend on our military commissions coverage may not be the same people who rely on us for NSA commentary or for our cybersecurity legislative policy updates, and the people who read our book reviews may have only the dimmest sense that we also run a weekly podcast. Lawfare is organized as a blog, but it has become a full-featured magazine, and we need to build a site that supports what it has become---to make content easy to find for the different communities who use it. As readers know, we have also had some cybersecurity issues that---I hope---we have gotten under control. But we need a stable architecture we can defend over the long run. None of this is cheap and reader contributions are a critical part of our long-term vitality.
Many readers have donated to Lawfare already (some do so regularly). If you're one of those readers, our sincere thanks. If you're not one of those readers yet and you use the site regularly, please consider becoming one. You can contribute to Lawfare in any amount by clicking the button on our sidebar. If you're a more old-fashioned check person, our mailing address is: P.O. Box 33226, Washington DC 20033-3226.
Many thanks.
Benjamin Wittes is editor in chief of Lawfare and a Senior Fellow in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution. He is the author of several books.
