At 11:20 am, President Barack Obama will deliver an address at American University defending the nuclear deal reached with Iran last month. In a preview of the speech, the New York Times tells us that Mr. Obama will argue that it would be a "historic mistake to squander this opportunitity—removing constraints on the Iranian program, unraveling the sanctions regime and damaging American credibility." The AFP says that the president is likely evoke parallels to president John F. Kennedy, who in 1963 "used the same university venue to argue vehemently for peace with the Soviet Union in the face of panic over a nuclear conflagration." Obama will "present the Iran nuclear debate as the most momentous U.S. foreign policy decisions since the Iraq war."
