On Jan. 20, President Donald Trump issued a Presidential Action that states that there is a “backlog” in processing security clearances for individuals who have been hired to work in the Executive Office of the President that prevents those individuals from doing their duties.

The action orders the White House Counsel to provide a list of personnel who are to be immediately granted interim TS/SCI clearances for up to six months. It further orders that those individuals have immediate access to facilities and technology as necessary to perform their jobs, and empowers the White House Counsel to supplement the list and revoke interim clearances as necessary.
