Reminder: Lawfare Internship for Fall 2013

The Governance Studies program at Brookings is currently accepting applications for a national security intern for fall 2013. Interns will be responsible for helping to run and maintain Lawfare, a website devoted to serious, non-ideological discussion of national security legal issues. This internship will run from late September to late December. Please note that the position is unpaid and strong preference will be given to applicants who can commit to a minimum of 4 full-time work days a week. Lawfare has emerged as the internet’s indispensable resource for information and analysis on the law of national security. Devoted to “Hard National Security Choices,” the site features top-quality writing and analysis from experts on developing stories in the national security arena, relevant legislation, and judicial opinions. It includes a podcast, a book review, research tools (including a fast-growing primary-source wiki document library), a news feed, a daily news roundup, event listings, and exhaustive coverage of events other media touch only glancingly. Basic Functions: The Lawfare intern will provide research support to two scholars and two staff members, and will work to develop the Lawfare wiki. He/she will tag and categorize posts on the website, help with the Twitter feed, and provide general administrative support as needed. Education and Skills Requirement: Undergraduate students - especially juniors and seniors – and recent college graduates with backgrounds in government, political science, and law are encouraged to apply. Our most successful interns have very strong writing, analytical, and research skills, as well as excellent verbal and organizational skills—preferably demonstrated through prior independent research or previous experience as a research assistant.
