David Sanger discloses in the NYT that the United States and Israel were behind the computer worm attack on Iranian nuclear facilities that came to be known as Stuxnet. The story is based on non-attributed interviews with U.S. (and perhaps Israeli) officials, and is fascinating from start to finish. It will be interesting to see how Iran responds now that the New York Times has credibly and very publicly attributed the attack. It will also be interesting to see how the Obama administration responds to this latest round of leaks about a highly classified program, and how (if at all) the Stuxnet leaks, on top of the extensive leaking about covert drone attacks, affects the various leak prosecutions the Obama administration is now pursuing.
