This just in: President Obama today nominated Professor Scott L. Silliman and William B. Pollard III to the U.S. Court of Military Commission Review. Both men are highly qualified and will bring different professional experiences to the CMCR.  Silliman - who taught my National Security Law seminar - supervised the Air Force's complement of lawyers during the Persian Gulf War's Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and is Professor of the Practice of Law at Duke.  Pollard is partner at a private law firm, Kornstein Veisz Wexler & Pollard, and was for many years an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York. Both nominations now proceed to the Senate for consideration.
