The Justice Department has filed a motion to unseal portions of the search warrant used in the FBI search of former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, Attorney General Merrick Garland said. Garland said in a public address earlier today that he personally authorized the search warrant request due to “substantial” public interest.
An armed man attempted to break into the FBI’s field office in Cincinnati Thursday morning. Authorities have currently contained the suspected gunman to a corn field off Interstate 71 after a chase down the highway. It is believed that the suspect has a leg gunshot wound. The armed individual was seen shooting at law enforcement from the cornfield. It is currently unclear why the individual attempted the break in.
A Russian missile strike killed at least 13 people and injured 11 others in southern Ukraine. The strike hit the Nikopol district near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. The regional governor of Dnipropetrovsk said that the Russians launched 80 rockets which hit residential areas. According to a local council official, the attacks damaged power lines, resulting in power outages for thousands in the region.
The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that prisoner negotiations have begun between the United States and Russia for the release of basketball player Brittney Garner and former Marine Paul Whelan. The talks are proceeding through a channel between President Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin instituted last June.
At least 48 Palestinians died during the conflict between Israel and the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, according to recent estimates. Over 300 Palestinians were injured during the weekend’s violence. The Israeli government and Hamas agreed to a cease-fire on Sunday.
Researchers said the Arctic is warming faster than had been noted previously. The findings indicate that the region is seeing temperatures rise four times faster than the average globally. Previous reports had indicated the Arctic was heating at a rate two to three times faster. Arctic warming has been a key sign of climate change, with the melting of the Greenland ice sheet having been associated with rising sea levels and other environmental effects.
