The story of the day is that the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, aka the Dronemaker Club, has released a "Code of Conduct" (the quotation marks are theirs, not added by me to increase the snark factor) for the industry. The AP reports on the guidelines, which are aimed to encourage "safe, non-intrusive operation."

Stanley Fish writes in the New York Times on the Supreme Court's ruling in Alvarez, and the AP has this piece on reaction around the country to the decision.

Thom Shanker, Eric Schmitt and David Sanger at the New York Times inform us about the U.S. military reinforcements that have been moved into the Persian Gulf

Bloomberg's Businessweek reports that the Pentagon has requested permission from Congress to redirect some ($94.2 million) of its existing funding to finance the purchase of additional drones built by Boeing. The article also provides details for the rest of the Pentagon's "reprogramming" requests.

Conor Friedersdorf writes in The Atlantic on Jane Harman's remarks at the Aspen Ideas Festival, and even has a video of her response to his question regarding civilian deaths in drone strikes (Brookings' own Michael O'Hanlon, former Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg, and Retired Brigadier General Craig Nixon were also on the panel, with NPR's Dina Temple-Raston moderating).

Micah Zenko at the Council on Foreign Relations has compiled some key excerpts from Dan Klaidman's new book Kill or Capture.

Victor Davis Hanson gives Mitt Romney advice on how to critique President Obama's foreign policy strategy at the National Review.

Headlines and Commentary is taking tomorrow off, and we hope you all are too, to celebrate Independence Day.
