On Sept. 11, former President Donald Trump filed a motion for recusal of Judge Tanya Chutkan in the Justice Department’s case against him in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
In the motion, Trump argues that Chutkan’s previous “negative” comments about him in other cases “unavoidably taint” the proceedings, and therefore she is not able to give him a fair trial.
