Monday, Mar. 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. ET: The International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT) hosted a webinar to discuss conditions in Al-Hol, a Syrian camp which houses thousands of former Islamic State associates, and the likelihood of repatriation. The panel featured Luc Chounet-Cambas, independent consultant; Mohammed Sikh Aiyob, founder of Middle East Consulting Solutions; Schadi Semnani, independent consultant; and Devorah Margolin, Blumenstein-Rosenbloom fellow at the Washington Institute. The conversation was moderated by Joana Cook, senior project manager at ICCT.

Monday, Mar. 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. ET: The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace will host an event to discuss tactics employed by Russian forces in the ongoing war against Ukraine. The conversation will feature Michael Kofman, research program director of the Russia Studies program at the Center for Naval Analyses, and moderator Aaron David Miller, senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment.

Monday, Mar. 13, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. ET: The Brookings Institution will host a webcast to reflect on the strength of armed groups in Myanmar and the Burmese armed forces, following the military coup nearly two years ago. The event will feature Richard Horsey, senior advisor at the International Crisis Group; Yun Sun, nonresident fellow at the Africa Growth Initiative at the Global Economy and Development; Min Zaw Oo, executive director of the Myanmar Institute for Peace and Security; and Thinzar Shunlei Yi, advocacy coordinator at the Action Committee for Democracy Development. The discussion will be moderated by Vanda Felbab-Brown, director of the Initiative on Nonstate Armed Actors Co-Director. 

Tuesday, Mar. 14, 2023, at 8:15 a.m. ET: CSIS will host a discussion about former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s proposal for implementing programs which exemplify “data free flow with trust,” an idea he presented at the 2019 World Economic Forum. The conversation will feature Maiko Meguro, director for international digital strategy and international affairs for the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry; Andrew Wyckoff, director for science, technology and innovation at the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development; and Amb. Robert Holleyman, president of Crowell & Moring International. The discussion will be moderated by Matthew Goodman, senior vice president for economics at CSIS.

Tuesday, Mar. 14, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. ET: CSIS will host a webcast to discuss the security of nuclear facilities in Ukraine. The event will feature Rafael Mariano Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency; and Heather Williams, director of the CSIS Project on Nuclear Issues.

Wednesday, Mar. 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. ET: The Carnegie Endowment will host a discussion to reflect on the present-day impacts of the 2005 U.S.-India Civil Nuclear Deal. The event will include introductory remarks by Mariano-Florentino (Tino) Cuéllar, president of the Carnegie Endowment; and feature a discussion with Christopher Chivvis, director of the Carnegie Endowment’s American Statecraft Program; Stephen Hadley, principal at Rice, Hadley, Gates & Manuel LLC; Rose Gottemoeller, nonresident senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment’s Nuclear Policy Program; George Perkovich, vice president for studies at the Carnegie Endowment; and Ashley Tellis, senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment.

Wednesday, Mar. 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. ET: The Atlantic Council will host an event to discuss how continued social unrest in Peru may affect investment in the region. The discussion will feature Kevin O’Reilly, national summit of the Americas coordinator at the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs; Fernando Calmell del Solar, president of the Association of Peruvian Entrepreneurs; Mabel Huertas, managing partner at 50+1 Grupo Análisis Político; Miriam Kornblith, senior director for Latin America and the Caribbean at the National Endowment for Democracy; Rafael Zacnich, head of economic research at ComexPeru; and Jason Marczak, senior director of the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center.

Wednesday, Mar. 15, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. ET: The Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University will host a seminar to discuss how the Biden-Harris administration has engaged with international courts. The event will feature Beth Van Schaack, ambassador-at-large for global criminal justice at the U.S. Department of State.

Thursday, Mar. 16, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. ET: CSIS will host an event, as part of the 2023 Defense Acquisition Program Administration-CSIS conference, to explore opportunities for defense industry cooperation between the U.S. and South Korea to protect global supply chains. The event will feature introductions by Cynthia Cook, director of CSIS’ Defense Industrial Initiatives Group; and John Hamre, president of CSIS, followed with keynote remarks by Michael Vaccaro, principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for Industrial Base Policy; Eom Donghwan, minister of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration; and a Q&A moderated by Victor Cha, senior vice president at CSIS. Next, a panel discussion will feature Michael Vaccaro, principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for Industrial Base Policy; Yoon Changmoon, director general of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration’s International Cooperation Bureau; Pat Mason, deputy assistant secretary of the Army for Defense Exports & Cooperation; Karlton Johnson, chair of the National Space Society; Cho Jun Hyun, director for defense acquisition innovation at the Defense Acquisition Program Administration; and Han Seung Jae, director of global defense business division at the Korea Research Institute for defense Technology planning and advancement. Thursday, Mar. 16, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. ET: The Brookings Institution will host a webcast to discuss how emerging regional supremacy of Turkey and Iran, domestic political unrest in Israel, and other recent developments have affected the Arab-Israeli relationship. The event will begin with introductory remarks by Suzanne Maloney, vice president at the Brookings Institution; and include a panel discussion featuring Itamar Rabinovich, distinguished fellow at the Brookings Institution; and Ksenia Svetlova, senior research fellow at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya. Friday, Mar. 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. ET: The Brookings Institution will host a panel discussion to reflect on the legacy of the Iraq War, 20 years after the U.S. invasion. Friday, Mar. 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. ET: The Wilson Center will host a discussion of opportunities for Taiwan to protect its technology industry by forging global partnerships. The virtual event will feature Shelley Rigger, professor at Davidson College; and Dan Blumenthal, senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. The conversation will be moderated by Shihoko Goto, director for geoeconomics and Indo-Pacific enterprise at the Wilson Center’s Asia program.

Friday, Mar. 17, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. ET: The Hudson Institute will host an event to discuss how the U.S. government can protect the wellbeing of Chinese workers.
