Tuesday, March 10th at 9 am: The United States Institute of Peace will host a discussion on the Future of U.N. Peace Operations with a delegation from the Secretary General's High-Level Independent Panel on U.N. Peace Operations. Speakers will include Anthony Blinken, Jose Ramos-Horta, Ambassador William Taylor, Ambassador George Moose, Sheba Crocker, and Peter Yeo. RSVP here. Tuesday, March 10th at 12:15 pm: At the New America Foundation, General Michael Hayden, James Walsh, and David Gioe will participate in a panel discussion entitled Sharing Secrets: Obstacles and Solutions to International Intelligence Sharing. Wednesday, March 11th at 9:30 am: The Senate Committee on Foreign Relations will hold a hearing on the President's Request for Authorization to Use Force Against ISIS: Military and Diplomatic Efforts. Wednesday, March 11th at 10 am: Two new Brookings papers, "From Paper State to Caliphate: The Ideology of the Islamic State" and "The ISIS Twitter Census," look to address may of the remaining questions about the Islamic State's Ideology and Propaganda. On Wednesday at Brookings, authors Cole Bunzel, J.M. Berger, and Jonathon Morgan will discuss their findings. The panel will also include Anastasia Norton and William McCants. Wednesday, March 11th at 1:30 pm: In their new book, The Future of Violence: Robots and Germs, Hackers and Drones—Confronting a New Age of Threat, Benjamin Wittes and Gabriella Blum explore the potential dangers of modern technology when acquired by hostile groups or individuals. In light of the book's launch, Governance Studies at Brookings will host an event to discuss the new threats to national security and the developing framework for confronting the technology-enabled threats of the 21st century.
