Monday, June 8th at 9:15 am: The Center for Strategic and International Studies will host an online panel on Women and Countering Violent Extremism. The conversation will include Assistant Secretary of State Evan Ryan, Farah Pandith, Sasha Vavlicek, George Selim, and Juan Zarate. RSVP.

Monday, June 8th at 3 pm: The Africa Growth Initiative at Brookings will host a discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing Nigeria’s recently inaugurated President Buhari and his newly elected government entitled Nigeria in Transition: Prospects and Challenges for the New Government. Amadou Sy will have a conversation with Grant Harris and then take questions from the audience. Witney Schneidman will then moderate a panel discussion with Ambassador Princeton Lyman, Ambassador Thomas Pickering, Ambassador Robin Renee Sanders, and Rotimi Suberu, after which he will open the discussion to the floor. Wednesday, June 10th at 10 am: The House Foreign Affairs Committee Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa will hold a hearing on Iran's Enduring Ballistic Missile Threat. Lt. Gen. Wednesday, June 10th at 10 am: The Foreign Policy program at Brookings will host the launch of The Pew Research Center’s latest public opinion survey on the crisis in Ukraine in an event entitled Views of the Ukraine Crisis: Russia, the West, and the future of European Security. Katie Simmons and Bruce Stokes of Pew will deliver remarks, followed by a panel discussion with Michael O'Hanlon, Constanze Stelzenmuller, and Bruce Jones. RSVP.

Thursday, June 11th at 12:15 pm: The New America Foundation will launch a new book titled Cyber War vs Cyber Realities: Cyber Conflict in the International System by Brandon Valeriano and Ryan Maness. Thursday, June 11th at 2 pm: The House Foreign Affairs Committee Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific will hold a hearing entitled Retreat or Revival: A Status Report on Democracy in Asia. The first panel of witnesses will consist of Assistant Secretary of State Tom Malinowski, USAID Assistant Administrator Jonathan Stivers, and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Scot Marciel. Job Summary:

The Congressional Research Service (CRS) Government and Finance (G&F) Division is seeking an Analyst in Cybersecurity Policy to conduct analyses that inform congressional deliberations on civilian federal and private-sector cybersecurity policy and legislation. The analyst will apply broad knowledge of policy and technical approaches to examine the efforts of federal entities, the private sector, and public/private partnerships regarding cybersecurity; address the policy impacts of information technology security; and analyze the threats and impacts of cyberattacks, vulnerabilities of information technology, and defense and countermeasures in a legislative policy context.

The analyst will provide objective, expert policy analysis and consultation to congressional committees, Members, and staff, including preparing objective, authoritative, non-partisan, and innovative analytical studies on policy issues of national or international significance; providing personal assistance as a national expert on public policy issues throughout the legislative process, including analyzing and evaluating legislative proposals; and planning and leading multi-disciplinary team research projects and seminars.

CRS works exclusively for the United States Congress, providing policy and legal analysis to committees and Members of both the House and Senate, regardless of party affiliation. As a legislative branch agency within the Library of Congress, CRS has been a valued and respected resource on Capitol Hill for more than a century.

CRS is well known for analysis that is authoritative, confidential, objective, and nonpartisan. Its highest priority is to ensure that Congress has immediate access to the nation's best thinking on public policy issues of interest to its Members and Committees.
