Kevin Bankston
Kevin Bankston is the Director of New America’s Open Technology Institute (OTI), where he works in the public interest to ensure universal access to an open and secure internet. He has previously worked as a senior staff attorney at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, where he spent nearly a decade litigating Internet-related free expression and electronic surveillance issues, and also as the Free Expression Project Director at the Center for Democracy & Technology and as a Justice Brennan First Amendment Fellow at the ACLU. He currently serves on the board of the First Amendment Coalition, was a nonresidential fellow at Stanford Law School’s Center for Internet & Society, and was selected in 2017 as one of Washingtonian’s 100 “Tech Titans of DC” in consideration of his work at OTI. He received his JD at the University of Southern California Law School after receiving his BA at the University of Texas at Austin.
