This is very good news. From the White House the other day:
Today, President Barack Obama nominated David Jeremiah Barron to the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. “David Jeremiah Barron has displayed exceptional dedication to the legal profession through his work, and I am honored to nominate him to serve the American people as a judge on the United States Court of Appeals,” President Obama said.

David is a professor up at Harvard Law School. He was, of course, the head of the Office of Legal Counsel earlier in the Obama administration. He's a lawyer of uncommon thoughtfulness and care. He is also someone who has made a serious academic contribution to the field of national security law. He's exactly the sort of person President Obama should be putting on the courts. Congratulations to David, and memo to the Senate: Please make this one happen quickly.
