As the 2024 election draws near, pressing issues like immigration, reproductive rights, and inflation dominate the headlines. Meanwhile, recent natural disasters, which have devastated communities across the country, highlight the growing urgency of the climate crisis. Yet, environmental policy seems to be taking a backseat in voters’ minds. According to Pew Research Center data, climate initiatives rank lower than other major ballot issues, with a sharp partisan divide in how the two political parties view environmental protection.

In this episode of the TechTank podcast, guest host Xavier Freeman-Edwards is joined by Barry Rabe, nonresident senior fellow in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution and professor at the University of Michigan, to discuss if the 2024 election will bring more attention to climate change.
