Monday, July 18, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. ET: The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace hosted an event to discuss the lessons that Chinese forces are potentially learning from the Russian war on Ukraine. The conversation will feature conversation among Evan A. Feigenbaum, vice president for studies at Carnegie; Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Charles Hooper, former director for China and Taiwan policy in the Office of the Secretary of Defense; Bonny Lin, senior fellow at the Center for Security & Strategic Studies (CSIS); and Joel Wuthnow, senior research fellow at the National Defense University.

Monday, July 18, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. ET: CSIS hosted an online-only event to examine the U.K.-U.S. defense relationship. The event will feature a discussion with Edward Ferguson, Minister Counselor Defense at the British Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. ET: CSIS will host a full-day conference to evaluate the challenges present in global humanitarian responses. The conference will feature opening remarks by Sarah Charles, assistant to the administrator of the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance at the U.S. Agency for International Development and closing remarks by David Miliband, president and CEO of the International Rescue Committee. Discussion moderators include: Mvemba Phezo Dizolele, director and senior fellow at CSIS; Jacob Kurtzer, director and senior fellow at CSIS; Caitlin Welsh, director at CSIS; and Erol Yayboke, director and senior fellow at CSIS.

Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. ET: CSIS will host an event to discuss the future of the U.S.-Japan alliance following Japan’s Upper House Elections. The event will feature a discussion between Edgard Kagan, special assistant to the president and senior director for East Asia and Oceania at the National Security Council, and Pamela Phan, deputy assistant secretary for Asia at the U.S. Department of Commerce, moderated by Christopher Johnstone, Japan Chair at CSIS.

Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. ET: The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace will host an event to evaluate the security and geopolitical implications of the war in Ukraine on Europe and the Middle East. Panelists include: Benedetta Berti, head of policy planning at NATO’s Office of the Secretary General; Marc Pierini, visiting scholar at Carnegie Europe; Sinan Ülgen, visiting scholar at Carnegie Europe; and Maha Yahya, director of the Malcolm H. Kerr Carnegie Middle East Center.

Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. ET: The Brookings Institution will host an event to examine the importance of domestic renewal in strengthening the U.S.’s global influence. The event will begin with a conversation between Rep. Darin LaHood and Ryan Hass, senior fellow at Brookings, which will be followed by a panel discussion. Panelists include: Jude Blanchette, Freeman Chair in China Studies at CSIS; Michael J. Mazarr, senior political scientist at the RAND Corporation; Sujai Shivakumar, director and senior fellow at CSIS; and Tara Watson, fellow at Brookings.

Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. ET: The American Enterprise Institute will host an event to discuss the impact of the Supreme Court’s recent term. The event will feature conversation among Jess Bravin, Supreme Court correspondent at the Wall Street Journal; Ramesh Ponnuru, nonresident senior fellow at AEI; and John Yoo, nonresident senior fellow at AEI. The discussion will be moderated by Elizabeth Slattery, senior legal fellow at the Pacific Legal Foundation.
