Monday, October 24, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. ET: The Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies hosted a lecture on the Russian invasion of Ukraine focusing on the effects of Western sanctions on Russia, Putin’s objectives and plans for the war, Russian public opinion regarding the war, and more. The lecture featured Vladimir Milov, the former Deputy Energy Minister of Russia.  

Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. ET: The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) will host a panel discussion focusing on issues and innovations in the administration of American elections. The panel will be moderated by John C. Fortier, senior fellow at AEI, and will feature Benjamin L. Ginsberg, co-chair of the Election Officials Legal Defense Network, Donald Palmer, commissioner at the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, and Lori Scott, former supervisor of elections in Brevard County, Florida. 

Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. ET: The Center for Strategic and International Studies will host a discussion on the key takeaways and implications of the 20th Chinese Communist Party Congress. The discussion will be hosted by Bonny Lin, director of the China Power Project, Jude Blanchette, Freeman Chair in China Studies, Scott Kennedy, senior adviser and trustee chair in Chinese Business and Economics, and Daniel H. Rosen, non-resident senior associate and trustee chair in Chinese Business and Economics. The discussion will feature Dr. David Finkelstein, vice president of the Center for Naval Analyses and director of the China and Indo-Pacific Security Affairs Division, and Lucy Hornby, visiting scholar with the Harvard Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies and former deputy bureau chief in Beijing for the Financial Times.  

Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. ET: The Atlantic Council’s Cyber Statecraft Initiative will host a virtual discussion on how policymakers can improve cybersecurity for critical infrastructure. The panel will feature Bryson Bort, nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Cyber Statecraft Initiative and founder of SCYTHE, Danielle Jablanski, nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Cyber Statecraft Initiative and cybersecurity strategist with Nozomi Networks, Munish Walther-Puri, former director of cyber risk and critical infrastructure liaison officer with NYC Cyber Command, and Virginia Wright, program manager at Idaho National Labs.  

Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. ET: The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) will host a panel of its Election Watch team to share their final insights on key House, Senate, and gubernatorial races before the 2022 midterms. The panel will feature Kristen Soltis Anderson, founding partner at Echelon Insights, Norman J. Ornstein, senior fellow emeritus at AEI, and Sean Trende, nonresident fellow at AEI. The panel will be moderated by John C. Fortier, senior fellow at AEI, and Chris Stirewalt, senior fellow at AEI, and both will deliver opening remarks. 

Thursday, October 27, 2022 10:00 a.m. ET: The Brookings Institution will host a panel of experts to discuss the results of its 13th annual American Values Survey to discuss the survey results and what they reveal about American’s attitudes ahead of the midterm election. Opening remarks will be delivered by E.J. Dionne, Jr., the W. Averell Harriman Chair and senior fellow in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution, and Melissa Deckman, CEO of the Public Religion Research Institute. The panel will be moderated by William A. Galston, the Ezra K. Zilkha Chair and senior fellow in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution, and will feature Janelle Wong, professor of American studies and government and politics at the University of Maryland, Robert P. Jones, president and founder of the Public Religion Research Institute, Eugene Scott, a national political reporter at the Washington Post, and Mona Charen, policy editor at The Bulwark. Survey results will be presented by Robert P. Jones. 

Friday, October 28, 2022 10:00 a.m. ET: The Atlantic Council will host a virtual panel to discuss Russian President Vladimir Putin’s nuclear threats and whether he would actually follow through. The panel will be moderated by Melinda Haring, deputy director of the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center, and will feature Gen. Phillip Breedlove, former Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Debra Cagan, distinguished energy fellow at the Transatlantic Leadership Network, Ambassador John Herbst, senior director of the Eurasia Center, and Victoria Voytsitska, former member of parliament in Urkaine’s Verkhovna Rada. 

Friday, October 28, 2022 11:00 a.m. ET: The Center for Strategic and International Studies’ International Security Program will host a fireside chat with Rob Silvers, the undersecretary for policy at the Department of Homeland Security, to discuss the department’s plans to strengthen cyber incident report, the Cyber Safety Review Board, and other recent initiatives. The discussion will be moderated by Suzanne Spaulding, CSIS senior advisor for homeland security and a former Department of Homeland Security under secretary. 

Friday, October 28, 2022 3:00 p.m. ET: The American Enterprise Institute will host a discussion to discuss local and state obstacles facing the American energy economy and possible regulatory, legislative, and legal solutions. The discussion will be moderated by James W. Coleman, nonresident senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, and will feature Robert Glicksman, professor of environmental law at George Washington University Law School, and Sanjay Patnaik, the Bernard L. Schwartz Chair in Economic Policy Development at the Brookings Institution.
