Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at 9 a.m. ET: The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) will host a panel discussion to analyze unanswered questions about North Korean leadership. Panelists include Victor Cha, senior vice president for Asia and Korea Chair at CSIS; John Delury, adjunct fellow and Korea chair at CSIS; Soo Kim, policy analyst at the RAND Corporation; Bruce Klinger, senior research fellow at the Asian Studies Center at the Heritage Foundation; and Sue Mi Terry, director of the Asia Program at the Wilson Center.
Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, at 12:15 p.m. ET: CSIS will host an event to examine Japan’s 2023 G7 priorities and the future economic order. The event will feature remarks from Yasutoshi Nishimura, the Japanese minister of economy, trade, and industry. Matthew P. Goodman, senior vice president for economics at CSIS, will moderate the discussion. John J. Harmed, CSIS president and CEO, will provide introductory remarks.
Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. ET: The Wilson Center will host an event to preview the tenth North American Leaders’ Summit. Juan Sebastian González, special assistant to the president, and Brian Nichols, assistant secretary of state for Western hemisphere affairs, will deliver a briefing on U.S. priorities heading into the Summit.
Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at 4 p.m. ET: The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) will host an event to reflect on strengthening the social, moral, and spiritual conditions for democratic institutions to thrive. AEI President Robert Doar will provide introductory remarks, after which Eugene F. Rivers III, founding director of the Seymour Institute for Black Church and Policy Studies; and Ian Rowe, senior fellow at AEI; will discuss models for healthy public discourse on contentious issues. At 4:30, Jacqueline C. Rovers, executive director of the Seymour Institute for Black Church and Policy Studies, will moderate a panel discussion to assess practical ways in which individuals can help keep the republic and how civic institutions can lead this democratic revitalization. Panelists include: Robert P. George, nonresident senior fellow at AEI; Mary Ann Glendon, professor emeritus of law at Harvard Law School; and Cornel West, professor of philosophy and christian practice at Union Theological Seminary.
