Monday, August 8, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. ET: The Atlantic Council hosted an event to discuss BlocPower’s Civilian Climate Corps as part of its EnergySource Innovation Stream series spotlighting innovations in the energy sector. The event featured a discussion between Glenn Schatz, chief revenue officer at BlocPower, and Julia Pyper, fellow at the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center.

Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 8:00 a.m. ET: The Atlantic Council will host a two-day summit for veterans and military spouses in the advanced energy industry. The event will explore the connection between U.S. national security and the energy sector in sessions focused on employment in the energy industry, trade and technology, and climate security. The summit will include remarks from government officials, business leaders, and think tank scholars.

Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. ET: The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace will host an event to launch a report by Ashley J. Tellis entitled, “Striking Asymmetries: Nuclear Transitions in Southern Asia.” The report covers nuclear developments such as India’s nuclear modernization, China’s expansion of its nuclear capabilities, and Pakistan’s nuclear diversification. The event will feature remarks from Rabia Akhtar, director of the Centre for Security, Strategy and Policy Research at the University of Lahore; Evan A. Feigenbaum, vice president for studies at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace; Rakesh Sood, fellow at the Observer Research Foundation; Ashley J. Tellis, Carnegie senior fellow; and Tong Zhao, Carnegie senior fellow.

Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. ET: The Wilson Center will host an event to discuss the role of Japan-U.S. cooperation in leveraging technology to address the Indo-Pacific’s energy needs. Speakers include: Sherri Goodman, former U.S. deputy under secretary of defense; Robert McNally, former white house energy adviser; Yukari Takamura, professor at the University of Tokyo; and Tatsuya Terazawa, chairman and CEO of the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan. The discussion will be moderated by Wilson Center scholar Shihoko Goto.

Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. ET: The Wilson Center will host an event to evaluate Chinese investments in high-speed railroads in Southeast Asia. Panelists include: Xiao Ma, professor at Peking University; Wanjing Chen, professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; and Selina Ho, professor at the National University of Singapore. Jennifer L. Turner, director of the Wilson Center’s Environment Forum, will moderate the discussion.

Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. ET: The Asia Society Policy Institute will host an event to discuss the upcoming Chinese Communist Party 20th Party Congress. The event will feature discussion between Asia Society Senior Fellow Christopher K. Johnson and University of Vienna Professor Ling Li. The discussion will be moderated by Kein Rudd, president and CEO of the Asia Society.

Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. ET: The Hoover Institution will host an event to examine human rights law and the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan. The event will feature discussion between H.R. McMaster, former assistant to the president for national security affairs, and Nader Nadery, fellow at the Asser Institute for International and European Law.

Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. ET: The Aspen Institute will host an event to evaluate the potential of stagflation in the United States. The event will feature conversation between Laurence D. Fink, chairman and CEO of BlackRock; Neel Kashkari, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis; Milissa S. Kearney, professor of economics at the University of Maryland; Lawrence H. Summer, professor and president emeritus at Harvard University; and Greg Ip, chief economics commentator for the Wall Street Journal.
