Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. ET: The Atlantic Council hosted a fireside chat to discuss the United States’ race for advanced technologies against China and Russia and steps to securing supply chains with Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), Lead Republican of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and one of the authors of the recently passed CHIPS for America Act.  The event was moderated by Matthew Kroenig, Acting Director at the Stowcroft Center, and featured opening remarks from Ambassador Paula J. Dobriansky, Vice President at the Stowcroft Center.

Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. ET: The Brookings Institution hosted a launch event for Alice Rivlin’s book “Divided We Fall: Why Consensus Matters. The event featured opening remarks by Brookings Interim President Amy Liu as well as a conversation with Sheri and Allan Rivlin, moderated by Cathy Minehan of the Brookings Board of Trustees. This was followed by a panel discussion on lessons from Rivlin’s book as they relate to political polarization in the United States, moderated by Matt Miller, a partner at Capital Group. Panelists included David Corn, Washington Bureau Chief at Mother Jones; William A. Galston, Brookings Senior Fellow; Maya MacGuineas, President at the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget; and Molly Reynolds, Brookings Senior Fellow in Governance Studies and Lawfare senior editor.

Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. ET: The Brookings Institution will host a conversation on China’s upcoming 20th Party Congress and how changes to China’s leadership will affect its role domestically and in global politics. The event will feature opening remarks from Brookings Vice President and Director of Foreign Policy Suzanne Maloney followed by a fireside chat with Thomas Friedman, author and op-ed columnist for the New York Times and Cheng Li, Brookings Senior Fellow and Director of the John L. Thornton China Center.

Tuesday Oct. 4, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. ET: The Atlantic Council will host an event on the intelligence community and reform of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI). The event will be moderated by Rep. Michael Turner (R-Ohio), ranking member of HPSCI, and will feature a panel discussion with Kari A. Bingen, Senior Fellow and Director of the Aerospace Security Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and Former Deputy Under Secretary for Intelligence and Security; Jane Harman, Distinguished Fellow and President Emerita at the Wilson Center and former ranking member of HPSCI; Matthew Kroenig, Acting Director of the Stowcroft Center; and Glenn Nye, President and CEO of the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress and former member of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee.

Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. ET: The Atlantic Council will also host an event on continuing U.S. support for Ukraine’s long-term security and prosperity amidst the ongoing war with Russia. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, (D-Minn.) will deliver keynote remarks. Melinda Haring, Deputy Director of the Eurasia Center, will moderate a discussion with Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen, one of the authors of the Kyiv Security Compact.

Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. ET: The Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University will hold an event on the implications of U.S.-China competition for South Asian nations, specifically focused on India. The event will feature a discussion between Arzan Tarapore, South Asia research scholar at the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center at Stanford, and Sinderpal Singh, Senior Fellow and Assistant Director at the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies.

Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. ET: CSIS will hold a discussion on the lessons learned from the war in Ukraine, specifically at the intersection of information warfare and the pro-Ukraine North Atlantic Fellas Organization (#NAFO). The discussion will feature Emily Harding, Deputy Director and Senior Fellow of the International Security Program at CSIS; Seth G. Jones, Senior Vice President and Director of the International Security Program at CSIS; Iuliia Mendel, Ukrainian Journalist and former Spokesperson for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy; Kathleen J. McInnis, Senior Fellow of the International Security Program at CSIS; and NAFO Co-founder and retired USMC Matt Moores.

Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. ET: CSIS will hold a launch event for the Implementation Plan for the Army Climate Strategy. The conversation will be moderated by Morgan Higman, Senior Fellow at the CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program and will feature Paul Farnan, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment, and Sharon Burke, former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Operational Energy Plans and Programs at the Department of Defense.

Friday, Oct. 9, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. ET: The Wilson Center will hold an event on the importance of the U.S.’s alliances with Southeast Asian and Pacific nations amid U.S.-China competition. The event will feature a pre-recorded conversation with Rep. Donald Norcross, (D-N.J.) and Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Va.). It will be moderated by Mark Kennedy, Wilson Center Public Policy Fellow, and Shihoko Goto, Director for Geoeconomics at the Wilson Center.
