Monday, April 17, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. ET: The Brookings Institution hosted a conversation to examine Congress’s national security priorities and legislative challenges facing the House Intelligence Committee. The event featured remarks from Suzanne Maloney, vice president at the Brookings Institution and Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D.-Va.), member of the House Intelligence Committee. Melanie W. Sisson, fellow at the Brookings Institution, and Michael E. O’Hanlon, director of foreign policy research at the Brookings Institution moderated the discussion.

Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. ET: The Brookings Institution will host a discussion to analyze the “one state reality” on which a solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict is predicated. The event will feature Michael N. Barnett, professor at the George Washington University; Marwan Muasher, vice president for studies at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace; Dahlia Scheindlin, scholar at The Century Foundation; and Shibley Telhami, nonresident senior fellow at the Center for Middle East Policy. The event will feature Rebecca Davis Gibbons, assistant professor at the University of Southern Maine.

Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. ET: The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University will host a panel discussion to examine how Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has affected global migration. The conversation will feature Karen Jacobsen, professor at Tufts University; Maxim Krupskiy, human rights attorney; John Cerone, visiting professor at Tufts University; Olga Gulina, co-founder of the RUSMPI Institute on Migration Policy; and Stanislav Stanskikh, research fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. ET: The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace will host an event to assess China-EU relations one year after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The discussion will feature Dan Baer, senior vice president for policy research at the Carnegie Endowment; Chan Heng Chee, ambassador-at-large of the Singapore Foreign Ministry; Paul Haenle, Maurice R. Greenberg director’s chair at the Carnegie Endowment; and Liu Yawei, senior advisor on China at The Carter Center.

Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. ET: The Atlantic Council will host a discussion about the use of unmanned aircraft systems by Ukrainian and NATO forces against Russia. The event will begin with remarks from Matthew Kroenig, vice president at the Atlantic Council. Panelists include: Ret. Gen. Philip M. Breedlove, former supreme allied commander for Europe of NATO; Ulrike Franke, senior policy fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations; Margarita Konaev, nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council; and Lt. Col. Lichen “SCUBA” Pursley, director of U.S. Air Force programs at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems. The conversation will be moderated by Leah Scheunemann, deputy director of the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. 

Thursday-Saturday, April 20-22, 2023: The Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University will host a conference to survey existential risks to global security. The three day event will feature presentations and panel discussions, punctuated by five keynote speakers: Joan Rohlfing, president of the Nuclear Threat Initiative; Luke Kemp, research associate at Cambridge University's Centre for the Study of Existential Risk; Daniel Deudney, professor of Political Science at Johns Hopkins University; Paul Edwards, faculty co-director of the Stanford Existential Risks Initiative; and Stephen Luby, faculty co-Director of the Stanford Existential Risks Initiative.

Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. ET: The Center for New American Security (CNAS) will host a virtual event to discuss escalation management in a war to defend Taiwan. The discussion will feature Phillip C. Saunders, director of the INSS Center for the Study of Chinese Military Affairs at National Defense University; John Warden, research staff member in the Strategy, Forces, and Resources Division of the Institute for Defense Analysis; Stacie Pettyjohn, senior fellow in CNAS’s defense program; and Hannah Dennis, research assistant in CNAS’s defense program.
