Monday, November 7, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. ET: The Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies hosted a lecture by Stanislav Aseyev, a Ukrainian journalist and writer, to detail his experience in a modern-day concentration camp overseen by the Russian Federal Security Bureau. 

Monday, November 7, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. ET: The Brookings Institution will host a panel discussion on the drivers and implications of the rise of economic security policies in the Indo-Pacific region. The panel will feature Jun Kazeki, executive advisor at GRIPS Alliance; Scott Kennedy, senior advisor and trustee chair in Chinese Business and Economics with CSIS; Mihoko Matsubara, chief cybersecurity strategist with NTT Corporation; and James L. Schoff, senior director of the U.S.-Japan NEXT Alliance Initiative at Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA. The panel will be moderated by Mireya Solis, director of the Center for East Asia Policy Studies at CSIS. 

Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. ET: The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) will host a conversation about the political engagement of immigrants in the United States, their varying political beliefs, and what drives those differences. The panel will feature Daniel A. Cox, senior fellow in Polling and Public Opinion at AEI; Emily Ekins, vice president and director of polling at the Cato Institute; Mark Hugo Lopez, director of race and ethnicity research at Pew Research Center; and Ruy Teixeira, nonresident senior fellow at AEI. The panel will be moderated by Stan Veuger, senior fellow at AEI. 

Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. ET: The Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University will host a conversation about recent developments in European internet regulation. The conversation will feature Aleksandra Kuczerawy, a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford’s Program on Platform Regulation. Nathaniel Persily, James B. McClatchy professor of law at Stanford Law School, will moderate the conversation.  

Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. ET: The Atlantic Council will host a panel discussion focusing on the role of Central Asia in the Chinese and Russian energy markets. The panel will feature Ariel Cohen, nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center; Erica Downs, senior research scholar at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy; and Bruce Pannier, journalist and correspondent covering Central Asia. The panel will be moderated by Richard L. Morningstar, founding chairman of the Global Energy Center. 

Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. ET: The Brookings Institution will host two panel discussions focusing on the implications of the Chinese Communist Party’s 20th Party Congress for China’s domestic politics and foreign policy. The first panel will feature David Dollar, senior fellow at the John L. Thornton China Center; Diana Fu, nonresident fellow at the John L. Thornton China Center; and Cheng Li, director of the John L. Thornton China Center. It will be moderated by Jamie P. Horsley, senior fellow at Yale Law School’s Paul Tsai China Center. 

The second panel will feature Patricia M. Kim, David M. Rubenstein fellow at the John L. Thornton China Center; Jonathan D. Pollack, nonresident senior fellow at the John L. Thornton China Center; and Yun Su, nonresident fellow at Brookings’ Global Economy and Development program. It will be moderated by Jonathan Stromseth, the Lee Kuan Yew chair in Southeast Asian Studies. 

Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. ET: The Atlantic Council will host a discussion about the impacts of tomorrow’s midterm elections for U.S. engagement on issues of transatlantic importance. The discussion will feature Tyson Barker, nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center; Daniel Fried, the former U.S. ambassador to Poland; and Vivian Salama, a national security journalist with the Wall Street Journal. The discussion will be moderated by Rachel Rizzo, nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center. 

Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. ET: The Center for Strategic and International Studies will host a panel discussion on the U.S.’s role in development of, access to, and uptake of coronavirus therapies worldwide. The panel will feature Katherine E. Bliss, senior fellow at CSIS’ Global Health Policy Center; J. Stephen Morrison, senior vice president and director of CSIS’ Global Health Policy Center; Gary Edson, president of the COVID Collaborative; and Jenelle Krishnamoorthy, vice president and head of global public policy and international affairs at Merck.
